Isaac had been preoccupied most of the day with a pouting Bianca, which worked in Elisabet’s favor. She planned to leave the gallery early to do some shopping before she picked up Ethan at school.
“Where are you going?” Ben asked while raising an eyebrow and jutting his hip out.
“It’s time to spice up my wardrobe.”
“This wouldn't have anything to do with the extremely sexy Gabriel Morgan, would it?”
Was it? No. This is for me. Okay, maybe a little for Gabriel.
She winked and left Ben laughing in her office. He knew her too well.
Elisabet parked her car in the outdoor shopping center and walked toward Jacinda’s favorite boutique. The beautifully rustic store peppered the wood beamed ceiling with modern iron chandeliers. The aroma of cedar and vanilla floated around Elisabet. She was greeted by a young blonde woman that had a streak of hot pink tucked behind her ear.
After guidance from the sales woman, she purchased a few new blouses, skirts, and dresses but the one item she was positively giddy about was the jade ruched dress that gathered at the bodice, accentuating her generous chest in a striking, not trashy way. I have the perfect nude heels for the ensemble. Stop, Elisabet. This is business only.
The hours flew by. Elisabet pulled up the dress as she stood in her bathroom. She watched the fabric adhere to her curves. Her plush pink lips lifted at the reflection in the mirror. This was a woman she had been once. Before Isaac stole her away, just like her father had done to her mom. Just as Queen Anne Boleyn. Men had controlled the hearts of women for centuries. Took their love and abused it as the women allowed it with a smile and a curtsy. Elisabet was done being that submissive woman.
Thick caramel waves curtained her face and neck and a shimmer of brown outlined her dark eyes. When she stepped out from her bathroom to seek Jacinda’s approval, she was met with a cat call and applause.
“Oh, sweetie. That man is going to crumble at your feet.” Jacinda’s eyes looked her up and down.
“That’s not the intent but,” she blushed. “I do feel great.”
Jacinda’s eyes became glassy. “You are beautiful.” She took Elisabet’s hands. “Don’t allow Isaac to screw with your head any more. Just have fun tonight, okay?”
Elisabet nodded, afraid if she spoke her mascara would down her face which, Jacinda would have a fit. She felt sexy and that sent a rush through her body. Elisabet was ready to meet Gabriel.
